ESPORT BLAU ESCOLAR (SCHOOL BLUE SPORTS)

The Club Nàutic Vilanova and L'Arjau School launched, at the end of the 2017-18 school year, a collaboration agreement within the Esport Blau Escolar (School Blue Sports) program. This project is included in the school program of the Consell Català de l’Esport within the Corporate Social Responsibility program of the Catalan Sailing Federation.

The Esport Blau Escolar program aims to put in contact the different clubs and sailing schools along the Catalan coast with the schools so that the fifth or sixth-year primary education students can enhance their knowledge of the sea through the sailing sports in their different classes of collective dinghies and double and individual dinghies thus acquiring the navigation values.

Through this agreement, Vilanova i la Geltrú is one of the seven Catalan towns that takes part in this pilot test, which will be the equivalent of the Esport Blanc Escolar (School White Sports) project, popularly known as  the 'White Week’, that has been carried out for years by schools in many Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees municipalities.

The Esport Blau Escolar project aims to promote the initiation and knowledge of the sea sports in the nautical and marine environment, among the children, especially in the coastal areas. Another objective of this initiative is to educate through sports, to work in teams, respect the environment, have fun and know our waters with the complicity of teachers and sports technicians. Finally, the project aims to achieve that the navigator gets enough autonomy to guarantee an adequate level of navigation. The contents of the program focus on the standards of the Unified Education System. These are based on three levels: Basic, Medium and Advanced, plus a common level that includes concepts similar to the 5 disciplines: Lightweight Sailing, Windsurfing, Kitesurf, Skateboarding and Cruise.
